CABBAGE SOUP DIET

The Cabbage Soup Diet has existed for quite some time, with several variations. Participants can consume as much cabbage soup as they can handle for seven days. Because cabbage is considered a negative-calorie food, and it is low-fat, you could probably lose a lot of weight quickly on this plan. Post-cabbage souping, though, you will most likely regain the pounds.

Foods Emphasized: Cabbage soup, brown rice, and vegetables

Foods Restricted: Meat, alcohol, bread, and fried foods

Premise and Guidelines: The Cabbage Soup Diet has definitely been around the longest of all fad diets. Eating mostly cabbage soup can result in rapid weight loss for a special event or short time period, but it isn’t a tasteful or satisfying diet, and the weight will return when you switch back to regular food.

The most common menu plan for the Cabbage Soup Diet is as follows:

Day 1: Cabbage soup, plus any fruit except bananas. Drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice and water.
Day 2: Cabbage soup, plus other vegetables whether raw, boiled or steamed, and avoid dry beans, peas and corn. For dinner, eat a baked potato with butter.
Day 3: Cabbage soup, plus other fruits and vegetables.
Day 4: Cabbage soup, plus up to eight bananas and fat-free milk.
Day 5: Cabbage soup, plus up to six tomatoes and up to 450 grams of meat or fish.
Day 6: Cabbage soup, plus meat and vegetables.
Day 7: Cabbage soup, plus brown rice, pure fruit juice and vegetables.

The meals are obviously nutritionally unsound. Consuming that much cabbage could also cause your digestive system to produce an excessive amount of gas, which can not only be disturbing, but uncomfortable. If you use this diet, you will need to immediately switch to a longer-term diet to see any lasting results. To make long-lasting changes, abiding by this Cabbage regimen is probably not the best way.
