COOKIE DIET
The Cookie Diet was created by Dr. Siegal in 1975 and consists of cookies, shakes, soups and nutritional supplements. He created the diet due to the amount of patients he saw with health problems caused by obesity. Through research, he discovered that some foods suppressed hunger better than others; some foods actually triggered hunger.
Dieters can expect to lose weight by consuming the provided packages of cookies. The cookies contain a specific amino acid protein formula believed to control hunger. It is important to remember that the cookies are dieting tools and should not be treated like true cookies. Cookies are used due to its portability and favorability.
Foods Emphasized: 6 cookies a day
Foods Discouraged: all carbohydrates
Premise and Guidelines: Followers of this diet are instructed to eat six cookies throughout the day, whenever hunger strikes. Nothing else is to be consumed until dinner, at which chicken or fish with vegetables are to be eaten. Liquids can consumed at any time and can include coffee and tea.
The cookies plus dinner add up to a mere 800 calories. Many argue that this is not a substantial diet but Dr. Siegal claims that no study has proven this to be harmful. Dieters on average have said to lose 15 pounds per month.
