DOG DIET
Moving along from movies to pets, the Dog Diet was developed by attorney and dog owner Patti Lawson, who claims her dog helped her lose weight. Being active with your dog and subscribing to the way he or she eats can result in losing weight yourself. Obviously, a dog is necessary for this diet to work.
Foods Emphasized: Anything your dog wouldn’t really eat; healthy foods
Foods Discouraged: Any yummy foods your dog would like to get his/her paws on- this includes pizza, cake, ice cream
Premise and Guidelines: This diet was created out of the realization that Patti’s dog brought joy and balance to her life when she went through a period of bad-eating and depression. She found that focusing her energy on her dog, instead of her problems, helped her lose the weight she gained after the end of a romance.
The Dog Diet demonstrates that a dog’s relationship with food is not based on emotional eating and can help humans develop a healthier connection between food and dieting. Some doggy-based dieting tips include avoiding foods that are too noisy (for example, if opening a bag of chips causes your dog to come running into the kitchen, chips should be taken out of your weight loss diet), and also banning snacks that your dog seems to enjoy (if your dog wants to try it, it's probably bad for you). Patti also came up with the phrase 'dogercise', which is how you exercise using your dog as a guide. If your dog wants to play or go for a run or walk, so do you.
Lawson really wrote her book as a humorous memoir on a difficult time in her life, where she ended up learning some good lessons- including dieting! Although there isn’t any guideline for how much weight you can lose on this diet, and it shouldn’t be taken too seriously as a diet plan, you could probably take away some good tips and life lessons while reading.
