FAT FLUSH PLAN

The Fat Flush Plan is the diet created by nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman. It consists of a 3-phase weight-loss plan that focuses on ridding your body of the toxins that cause weight gain. Strict dieters who are willing to give it all up for the sake of weight loss

Gittleman's special supplements, flaxseed oil and special diet cranberry cocktail

Foods Emphasized: Cranberry juice, fish, green vegetables, apples, flax seed oil, lemon juice, and grapefruit

Foods Discouraged: Butter, grains, sugar, sugar, dairy, oils, alcohol and starchy vegetables

Premise and Guidelines: The Fat Flush diet is principled on the Pritikin Diet of the 1980's. This weight loss diet advocates a combination of essential fats, proteins and 'good carbs', while avoiding foods that can clog the digestive system, such as flour, grains, and sugar. By combining this diet with the use of specially developed nutritional aids, the dieter will detoxify their liver, and thereby increase their metabolism.

This weight loss diet consists of three phases:
Phase 1
This is the strictest and most difficult phase of the plan, designed to start cleansing the body and detoxifying the liver. Many foods are restricted in this phase.

Phase 2
Promoting continual weight loss is structured in this phase; there are some foods that can be reintroduced in this phase, but overall, it is still restrictive. Each week during phase two, a 'friendly carb' may be brought into the diet. These carbs are monitored to determine how your body reacts to it.

Phase 3
This is a maintenance phase. Dairy may be consumed at this time, as well as a few starch vegetables.

Some of the drawbacks to following this diet include the pricing of the supplements and organic foods, and also the availability of such foods. It can be difficult to shun processed foods when they are so widely offered everywhere. However, there can be great benefits to detoxifying the body and liver, and it is a matter of whether the dieter can maintain this eating lifestyle.
