ONE DAY DIET

After learning about the 3-Hour Diet, the One Day Diet may seem too lengthy, but this is a new variation on an old concept- fasting. Affinity Health claims to be the ‘originator’ of the One Day Diet, which involves fasting with water and diet wafers every other day. You may eat regular meals, alternated with the one day of dieting. This may get fast results, but the nutritional value of this diet could come up emptier than your stomach.

Foods Emphasized: Diet wafers and water

Foods Discouraged: On diet days, all food is restricted

Premise and Guidelines: Like other ‘quick-fix’ diets, desperation can lead to adherence to some questionable diets. Following this weight-loss diet is extremely simple; for one full day, consume nothing but diet wafers and water. The following day, eat as you normally would. Dieters must maintain this pattern of alternate day-cycling until the weight loss goal is reached.

Day-cycling is both unhealthy and unproductive, and may even cause you to gain additional weight instead of losing it. On the days that normal eating habits are resumed, any weight that was lost could immediately be regained. This is the sort of weight loss program that could be frustrating and difficult to follow in long-term. Affinity Health claims that the One Day Diet is superior because other total starvation diets lower metabolism, whereas theirs maintains normal metabolism. And even though the wafers required for this diet cost around $40 for seven dieting days, they state that eating only wafers and water on the diet days actually saves on food costs! Each day, you will consume around 20 wafers, and a wafer contains only a small amount of needed calcium and protein, plus a few vitamins and minerals. It would seem that there are healthier and more vitamin-rich diets to be chosen for effective weight loss.
