WEIGHT WATCHERS

Weight Watchers TurnAround has done just so- from their humble beginnings in the 1960’s to their famous recipe cards of the 1970’s to the present-day program; which includes online journals, weight trackers, recipes, meal planning, and charts. Weight Watchers has successfully adapted to the needs of the market and stayed on top as a major weight-loss management program. Their motto? "Calories in, calories out", which became the basis for their ‘point’ system.

Foods Emphasized: Grains, protein, dairy, fruits, vegetables, water, vitamins, sugars, alcohol and healthy oils

Foods Discouraged: Nothing, as long as it doesn’t exceed the points for the day

Premise and Guidelines: The Weight Watchers program has been in existence since the 1960's when some friends assembled to discuss dieting and weight-loss plans. Encouraged by the success of this support structure and subsequent weight losses, what started as a friendly meeting grew to include millions of men and women, and now we have the Weight Watchers weight-loss program.

Members may attend local group gatherings where they receive motivation, support, and encouragement, or they can obtain similar resources online. To supplement personal meetings or for those that are unable to attend meetings, the variety of online tools has proved very helpful.

Weight Watchers offers two main weight-loss programs that dieters can choose including the Weight Watchers’ Flex Plan and the Weight Watchers’ Core Plan. The Weight Watchers' Flex Plan is a calorie-counting and point-based system. Each person gets an allotment of so many points each day, based on their weight loss goals. Foods have established a point value and dieters add up the points as they progress through the day. There are no restrictions on food types, only amounts, which is assessed in the form of ‘points’.

The Weight Watchers' Core Plan eliminates calorie counting completely and dieters must strive to eat foods that are on a list of healthy food choices. Some of these choices include fruits and vegetables, grains, lean meats, poultry, eggs and dairy. There is definitely a pattern of successfulness in dieting with diets that offer multiple avenues of support and guidance. Generally speaking, most dieters like to relinquish some of the control and planning to the ‘diet’ so that following it is easier. Expending too much effort thinking about and planning for meals can get tiresome and lead to failure.

These Weight Watchers plans emphasize balance between flexibility and control, so that dieting is easier to maintain. Once your food plan becomes second nature, dieters receive assistance formulating an exercise plan. Weight Watchers can be a valuable diet to build a healthy, balanced lifestyle in concurrence with a comprehensive weight-loss regimen.
